Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah scored an emphatic 100m victory over the returning Sha’Carri Richardson on the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon on Saturday.
Jamaican star Thompson-Herah powered over the road at Hayward Field in 10.54sec — the second quickest time in historical past — as Richardson completed a distant final in 11.14sec.
Saturday’s Diamond League conflict in Eugene had been billed as an opportunity for Richardson to indicate the world what might need been after she was banned from the Olympics for testing constructive for marijuana following her win on the US trials in June.
But in her first race since coming back from suspension, Richardson was by no means in competition as Thompson-Herah — who accomplished back-to-back Olympic 100m and 200m wins in Tokyo — surged away to complete a number of meters away from the sphere.

Thompson-Herah’s compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce completed in second place in 10.73sec whereas Shericka Jackson took third in 10.76sec — a carbon copy of the Tokyo Olympic 100m podium.
Thompson-Herah’s profitable time noticed her slice 0.07sec off her Olympic report of 10.61sec set on July 31.
Only the late Florence Griffith Joyner has ever run sooner, with Thompson-Herah now tantalisingly near the American’s 33-year-old world report of 10.49sec.
Richardson in the meantime placed on a defiant stance after her comeback fell flat.
“It was a great return back to the sport,” Richardson instructed NBC tv. “I needed to have the ability to come and carry out. Having the month off, coping with all I needed to take care of, I’m not upset with myself in any respect.
“This is one race, I’m not achieved. You know what I’m able to. Count me out if you wish to, discuss all of the shit you need, as a result of I’m right here to remain.
“Congratulations to the winners, congratulations to the people that won, but they’re not done seeing me yet.”
