Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title holder, Akwa Utd shocked visiting Algeria champions, CR Belouizad with a lone aim within the CAF Champions League preliminary first leg encounter on Sunday.

The lone aim was netted within the 87th minute by group captain, Ubong Friday, to the amazement of the enthusiastic followers on the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. 

Akwa Utd head coach Kennedy Boboye, throughout a publish match interview, attributed the win to the gamers’ dedication on the sector, regardless of being new entrants within the CAF competitors.

“We did very well but what happened [was that] our players were getting tired in the second half. We are moving forward to ensure a good result back home.”
