More particulars have emerged on how the former aide to ex-Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, was killed on Saturday evening in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Gulak was mentioned to have been attacked and shot lifeless in a Toyota Camry cab taking him and two others to Sam Mbakwe Airport to catch a flight.
But the police in Imo blamed the politician for his loss of life.
An announcement issued on Sunday by the police spokeperson within the state, Bala Elkana, blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain for leaving his room at Protea Hotel with out informing the police or another safety company within the metropolis contemplating the delicate safety scenario within the state.
The assertion learn, “On the 30/5/2021, at about 07: 20hrs, armed males intercepted and attacked a Toyota Camry cab carrying Ahmed Gulak and two others who had been on their technique to Sam Mbakwe Airport to catch a flight.
“Ahmed Gulak left his room at Protea Hotel with out informing the police nor sister businesses in view of the delicate safety scenario within the South-East and Imo particularly.
“He left with none safety escorts and whereas the cab driver took irregular path to the airport, six armed males who rode in a Toyota Sienna intercepted, recognized and shot at Ahmed Gulak at round Umueze Obiangwu within the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area near the airport.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo, CP Abutu Yaro, has directed a discreet investigation into the matter as tactical and special forces have been deployed to cordone the area and arrest perpetrators.”
