I Would Rather Die Than Surrender My Land To Fulani, Says Benue Governor, Ortom

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom says he’ll reasonably die than give up his land to the Fulani ‘who have made over a million homeless (people) in his state’.

Ortom disclosed this on Tuesday in Markudi, the state capital, whereas receiving the mission crew of the Medecins Sans Frontieres, also referred to as Doctors with out Borders.

The governor accused the Nigerian authorities of paying lip service to its combat in opposition to insecurity.

He maintained that the Muhammadu Buhari-led authorities has the capability to arrest killer herdsmen however has chosen to look the opposite approach to fulfil an alleged agenda of ethnic cleaning.

He mentioned, “Our people are dying, our women, mothers are being raped, our children can’t go to school, they are suffering.

“These criminals, they show themselves on social media, claiming they’re right here for an agenda to drive our folks away and take over their land and in addition kill them. And they’re right here courtesy of Federal Government however for me, if they arrive, then I’m able to die than to give up my land to Fulani males. If God didn’t defend me, then I would like no assist from anyone.”

“The spate of insecurity has also led to increased internal displacement which is now commonplace in most parts of the nation’s food basket as statistics continue to swell on what seems to be a daily basis with many more communities sacked from their ancestral home by the persistent attacks with no hope in sight for their safe return home,” the governor added.
