Delta Deputy Governor, Community Leaders Slam Akpabio Over Failure To Constitute NDDC Board

Delta state deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro, youth and group leaders from varied ethnic nationalities of Niger Delta area on Thursday slammed the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio over what they termed ‘refusal by President Muhammadu Buhari and the minister, Akpabio to represent a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Following the 7-day ultimatum on NDDC board reconstitution, issued final Sunday by ex- militant chief, Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo to the Nigerian authorities, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Akpabio hurriedly launched into a visit to the hometown of the ex-militant chief, Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State, to carry talks with stakeholders.

Speaking on behalf of the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa through the stakeholders assembly on the palace of the King of Gbaramatu kingdom, the state governor Deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro, reiterated the place of state authorities which is structure of a substantive board for the fee is in accordance with the Act establishing the NDDC.

Also expressing its disappointment and disappointment in the direction of the perspective of the Minister, the President of Isoko National Youth Assembly (INYA), Amos Ogbokor-Etaluku, advised the Minister that the Isoko nation aligned her with the 7-day ultimatum issued by the ex-militant chief.

He stated failure to stick to the calls for of the individuals, the Minister needs to be prepared to bounce to the aftermath music.

On his half, the President, Ijaw National Congress (INC), Benjamin Okaba, expressed dismay that Akpabio was operating NDDC with a sole administrator in contravention of the Act that established the fee.
