Five months after President Muhammadu Buhari authorised the discharge of funds for the fee of itinerant employees engaged beneath the Special Public Works Programme, the total fee of their salaries have simply been not too long ago paid.

This was made identified by one of many contract employees engaged for the programme chaired by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo.

In June 2021, the employee, who spoke on situation of anonymity, had reached out to SaharaReporters lamenting the dearth of fee of his stipends three months after finishing the contract.

Shortly after SaharaReporters revealed the story, the younger man stated he and his colleagues had been paid in full. 

He stated, “After SaharaReporters’ story, I received my payment in full likewise my colleagues. Thank you very much.”

In January 2021, the Nigerian Government flagged off the 774,000 jobs, with every participant anticipated to obtain N20,000 month-to-month for the three months of the contract.
