We will not respect status in enforcing interstate lockdown order – Enugu CP

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Ahmad Abdurrahman, says that the state police command is not going to tolerate complicity on strict enforcement of the state boundary closure (interstate lockdown).

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, mentioned in an announcement in Enugu on Thursday that the commissioner gave the warning on Wednesday when he addressed safety operatives in Enugu/Ebonyi State border space.

Mr Ndukwe mentioned that Mr Abdurrahman visited border safety posts to determine the extent of compliance and enforcement of the COVID-19 border closure and inter-states transportation and journey restriction orders.

“Following his commentary {that a} good variety of autos and individuals had been queued up and wanting to cross the border, the Commissioner took time to evaluate and grant entry to exempted autos conveying important items and repair suppliers, whereas turning again these not exempted.

“He charged safety operatives posted on the border to stay with the principles of engagement and resist insupportable acts of complicity and complacency able to jeopardizing the enforcement obligation.

“He warned that anyone found culpable will be appropriately sanctioned. The CP also warned that anyone found violating the orders will be brought to book, irrespective of his/her class or status,” he mentioned.

Mr Ndukwe mentioned the commissioner questioned why some residents appear to not have come to phrases with the truth that COVID-19 not solely exists however that it had deadly and devastating socio-economic impacts in nations of the world.

He mentioned the state police boss referred to as on residents to be law-abiding and compliant with the restriction orders in addition to observe all of the NCDC preventive measures.
