Two feared dead as flood renders Oyo residents homeless

Several residents of Ibadan, the capital metropolis of Oyo State had been rendered homeless when their areas had been flooded throughout a downpour that lasted many hours on Tuesday.

Except for the casualty determine that was minimal, the flooding was much like the lethal one which occurred in 2011.

Though two riders on bikes had been mentioned to have been swept away, it couldn’t but be confirmed as of the time of submitting this story.

The heavy rain which began at about 3.30 pm didn’t cease until late within the night.

At Olodo space, some folks had been reportedly trapped because the raging flood entered their properties. They had been heard calling for assist in a recorded video.

Also affected had been areas like  Oke-Ado, Gbekuba, Apata, and Omi-Adio.

At Omi Adio, farmlands and fish-ponds had been submerged.

Earlier, the state authorities had dredged some rivers and streams in preparation for the heavy rains.

One of the affected residents at Olodo mentioned, “The rain started drizzling until it became heavier and continued for many hours. There are no casualties here yet, but we don’t know what will happen when the large volume of water flows away”.

” All of our property together with electrical home equipment, furnishings, meals gadgets, garments, had been swept away. ”

“We saw some animals floating on water. We heard also that some parts of Ososami and other areas were submerged”.
