In the month of May, some states in South-South and South-East witnessed deliberate assaults on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) places of work and amenities.

The assaults like that on safety companies, had been properly coordinated.

In all these, electoral supplies, operational automobiles and amenities had been both vandalised or set ablaze.

According to INEC, a lot of the assaults on its amenities had been orchestrated by hoodlums and unknown gunmen.

Below is the timeline of assaults on INEC places of work in May 2021.

May 2 – Arsonists burnt the INEC workplace in Essien Udim LGA in Akwa Ibom state.

May 9 – Gunmen razed down INEC places of work in Ohafia LGA of Abia state.

May 13 – The fee’s workplace at Udenu Local Government Area headquarters in Obollo-Afor, Enugu was utterly razed down. Nothing was spared within the workplace after the assault, together with 16 mills.

May 14 – A complete of seven Toyota Hilux vans belonging to INEC had been burnt in an evening assault on the headquarters of the fee in Awka, Anambra State.

May 16 – The state workplace in Enugu suffered one more arson and vandalism wherein elements of the constructing had been ransacked and several other automobiles razed.

May 18 – Two extra places of work in Ebonyi and Ezza North native authorities areas of Ebonyi State had been burnt down.

May 23 – Gunmen razed headquarters of INEC in Anambra State.

May 23 – The Commission’s workplace in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State was set ablaze.

May 23 – The Commission’s workplace in Igboeze South Local Government Area workplace in Enugu State got here beneath assault.

May 30 – INEC workplace in Njaba Council Area of Imo State was burnt by hoodlums.
