Tension In Oyo As Gunmen Kidnap Traditional Chief, Wife

The Baale (conventional chief) of Araromi, Bakatari, a border city within the Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state, Chief Tafa Apanpa and his spouse have been kidnapped on Tuesday night.

A supply who hails from the village, Kunle Alausa confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The supply stated the gunmen stormed the village round 9pm on Tuesday.

Our correspondent learnt that the gunmen got here into the city with about 5 motorbikes and went straight to Baale’s home. 

According to our supply, some hunters have gone into the forest seeking the Baale and his spouse.

Alausa appealed to the state authorities to rescue the standard chief.

He stated, “I am on my way to the village now. They called me around 11pm to brief me about the abduction of our father and the Baale of our village, Chief Tafa Apanpa. I learnt they (kidnappers) arrived in the village while it was raining on Tuesday night. 

“The time was round 9pm. People have been shifting out of the village as I used to be instructed. But being an indegene of the village, I’m already on my option to the village. I additionally learnt hunters within the space have moved to the forest to see if they may get them rescued unharmed.

“We want the government to kindly come to our rescue. We cannot do it alone. When they are kidnapping traditional chiefs, who else cannot be kidnapped?”
