Some gunmen have razed the nation residence of Imo Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba within the Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

The assault reportedly occurred within the early hours on Sunday.

Two homes within the compound had been allegedly burnt down by the gunmen with none hindrance.

Earlier within the day, officers of the Imo police command killed 5 gunmen in a foiled assault on the command.

Four AK-47 rifles had been recovered from the gunmen.

Imo state has been experiencing a sequence of assaults recently, particularly on safety formations.

On April 5, armed males invaded the headquarters of the Imo State Police Command and the Nigerian Correctional Service in Owerri, burnt the services and freed over 1,800 inmates.

Unfortunately, one individual suspected to be a fleeing jail inmate was hit by a stray bullet.

Just a few days after, the nation residence of the state governor, Hope Uzodinma in Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area of the state was invaded by gunmen.

During the assault, they burnt a part of the constructing, razed some autos within the compound, and killed at the very least a safety official.
