Nigerian Polytechnic Students Protest, Block Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

Hundreds of scholars of D. S. Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State have blocked the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway, inflicting gridlock.

Both sides of the expressway have been blocked by the protesting college students.

Our correspondent gathered that the scholars have been protesting in opposition to the administration of the college.

It was gathered that the scholars blocked the college gate, stopping the members of workers and lecturers from getting into.

An eyewitness stated the scholars didn’t permit anybody to achieve entrance into the college, besides those that got here into the campus early.

It was learnt that the scholars have been protesting in opposition to the college administration’s resolution to forestall a few of their colleagues from taking examinations. 

According to the scholars, the administration prevented a few of their colleagues from taking the examination on Tuesday for not having as much as 75 per cent attendance.

The Public Relations Officer of the establishment, Yinka Adegbite, confirmed the protest.

Adegbite stated the administration was making strikes to resolve the matter.

It was gathered that makes an attempt by the appearing Rector to calm the scholars failed as they shunned his pleas.
