SUSPECTED Herdsmen, Sunday attacked and killed no fewer than 30 Ebonyi indigenes within the State.
The assailants had been mentioned to have attacked Odoke, Ndiobasi and Obakotara communities in Ebonyi native authorities space of the State.
Vanguard investigation revealed that the ugly incident occurred round 3am on Sunday morning.
The affected communities share boundary with Ado Local Government space in Benue State.
A resident within the space, Uchenna Okpokwu mentioned the herdsmen invaded his Community with weapons and machetes.
“They got here into Ndiobasi village and began slaughtering the folks. After slaughtering them, they entered Odoke, from that Odoke, they went to Obapta.
“Currently, folks that had been slaughtered in Ndiobasi are as much as 30 in keeping with the video clips on the incident however Odoke and Obapta are very far and no one was in a position to entered these two villages to seize people who had been killed.
“When I acquired name from certainly one of my villagers over the assault, he instructed me that the herdsmen are at the moment at Ojaba forest and that place is their hideout as a result of there isn’t a different means for them to flee. Another resident of the world, Onyibe Jeremiah lamented that no motion was taken to guard the communities regardless of earlier warnings of the herdsmen impending assaults.
Hé mentioned” One younger man from Enugu state that noticed the herdsmen once they had been coming into the Ebonyi villages made the voice name that went viral to alert the state however it seems that it was ignored which was why these assaults had been recorded regardless of the alert.
“Nobody took that voice serious and the herdsmen came and killed not less than 30 people now. They are currently attacking more villages”
The Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) confirmed that two kids had been killed whereas being taken to the hospital for therapy.
The NGO mentioned it has scrambled a group to the world to assist in therapy and evacuation of victims.
“Terrible scenes at Ohagelode Health Center this morning. An assault on an Izzi village inside Benue State, allegedly by herdsmen, resulted in lots of casualties.

“Many had been carried all the way in which to Ohagelode Health Center. The Uloanwu Ambulance was referred to as and (eleven) 11 individual’s, six adults and 5 kids, had been transported to AEFUTHA in Abakaliki.
“Sadly two children already died after reaching AEFUTHA. An AMURT team of doctors, lead by Dr. Omogo, the MD of AMURT has rushed to Ohagelode. We are trying to support the wounded carried to AEFUTHA, the statement by AMURT West Africa”, the assertion mentioned.
Reacting to the event, the Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, Chinyere Nwaogbaga confirmed the incident.
She mentioned she went to the world and helped to evacuate most of the residents from the world to hospital.
“Yes, the communities are Izzi(a clan in Ebonyi) speaking communities but they are geographically located in Benue. Since they are indigenes of Ebonyi though located in Benue, the State governor directed we go and bring them to hospital and treat them and also give them relive materials”.
She mentioned extra buses have been despatched to the world by the native authorities, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and the state authorities to evacuate extra victims.
