There was palpable at Ashaka neighborhood within the Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State following explosions that rocked the station, resulting in the burning of the station and autos.
The explosions occurred on Sunday morning they usually had been suspected to have been brought on by improvised explosive units (IEDs).
SaharaReporters learnt that the assailants had been unknown gunmen who invaded the police station and set ablaze operational autos and different autos there.
All efforts by the lads on obligation to repel the hoodlums had been resisted, it was learnt.
According to neighborhood sources, over 15 armed males invaded the station to hold out the assault.
Confirming the assault on the police station, the Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the incident incurred within the early hours of Sunday.
“In the early hours of immediately, 6/6/21 at about 0100hours, some enemies of the neighborhood and that of the police all armed males numbering about 20 stormed Ashaka police station. They threw IEDs on the station, shot sporadically, and set the police station that was constructed by the neighborhood/DESOPADEC ablaze, and likewise burnt one patrol automobile.
“It is pertinent to state that no life was misplaced and no arm was taken away. However, the police won’t relent in making certain that legislation and order is maintained in any neighborhood. Unprovoked assaults on the police won’t deter the police from offering the wanted safety in any neighborhood in Delta state.
“The hoodlums who perpetrated this dastardly act will definitely not go free, as critical efforts are ongoing to arrest them and produce them to justice.”
