BREAKING: About 70 Abducted Zamfara School Pupils Regain Freedom After 12 Days In Captivity

About 70 pupils of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, within the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State have regained their freedom from kidnappers. 

The state police command had confirmed the kidnapping of 73 college students of the varsity by bandits on September 1.

The pupils had been kidnapped on September 1 following which the state governor, Bello Matawalle, ordered the closure of all main and secondary colleges within the state. 

The governor additionally imposed a 6: 00 p.m. to six: 00a.m. curfew in 14 native authorities areas of the state.

The Nigerian Television Authority reported the information on its Facebook web page in a single day.

The report of the kidnapping was contained in an announcement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Shehu Mohammed, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

According to Mohammed, the kidnapping adopted the invasion of the varsity round 11: 22 a.m. by bandits. 

“The command, below the management of CP Ayuba N Elkanah, has deployed search and rescue staff, which has been mandated to work in synergy with the navy to make sure the secure rescue of the kidnapped college students. 

“The CP further appealed to the general public, especially parents and relatives of the abducted students, to exercise patience and continue to pray for the success of the ongoing rescue operation. 

“Security has also been beefed up at Kaya village and environs to forestall further attack on the communities,” the assertion learn. 

But shortly after their abduction, the bandits returned 5 of the pupils.
