Bandits Demand N500million Ransom For Abducted Niger Commissioner

The abductors of the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mallam Idris Sani Mohammed, have established contact along with his household, demanding N500million in ransom for his launch.

The abductors have been stated to have celebrated catching “a big fish” after they took away Mohammed from his residence, at about 11pm on Sunday, to an unknown vacation spot.

Although there isn’t a official replace from the state authorities on the incident aside from the affirmation by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, on the kidnapping, the federal government has gone into an prolonged safety assembly on the Government House.

The assembly is being presided over by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso, with all the safety heads within the state in attendance.

The Government House has been in a sober temper because the information of the commissioner’s abduction was made public in Minna, the state capital, whereas there may be an environment of disquiet on the Ministry of Information as staff have been seen in teams discussing the incident.

It had been reported that Mohammed was kidnapped at his Baban Tunga residence within the Tafa Local Government Area of the state on Sunday evening.
