A High Court in Kubwa, Abuja, Tuesday ordered a 2-year-old scholar, Abraham Umuibe, who defrauded a Chinese lady of N113,000 to comb Mpape Government Secondary School for 90 days.
In her judgment, Justice Kezziah Ogbonnaya mentioned the courtroom had been charged to offer non-protective sentencing geared in the direction of decongestion of the prisons relying on the case, including that the events entered a plea cut price.
Ms Ogbonnaya ordered the jail officers to produce a register for Umuibe to register every day for the 90 days and after which he could be free to go dwelling, Peoples Gazette experiences.
She went additional to warn him to desist from committing crimes and be of fine behaviour.
Earlier, the defence counsel, Ruth Mamza, requested the courtroom to mood justice with mercy, stressing that the defendant was a primary time offender with no legal document.
Ms Mamza said that the defendant was remorseful and understood the gravity of his offence.
“The defendant has repented and refunded every part he collected from the crime,’’ Ms Mamza mentioned.
The prosecuting counsel, Ijeabalum Diribe advised the courtroom that Umuibe and his defence counsel had agreed and signed a plea cut price on June 16.
Mr Diribe urged the courtroom to condemn and convict Mr Umuibe in step with the phrases of the plea cut price entered which positions that upon conviction, the defendant ought to pay N113, 000 tremendous or one month in jail.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission charged Mr Umuibe with dishonest and falsely representing himself as a Chinese citizen and army man named Maisbay Chang.
The prosecuting counsel mentioned Mr Umuibe fraudulently induced a Chinese girl on WE chat and picked up N113,000 from her.
She mentioned the offence breached the provisions of Section 95 of the Penal Code.
