UPDATED: Nigeria Records First COVID-19 Death

Nigeria has recorded the primary case of loss of life to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) introduced this on Monday through its verified Twitter deal with.

According to NCDC, the case was a 67-year-old male who returned dwelling following medical therapy within the UK.

He had underlying medical conditions- a number of myeloma and diabetes and was present process chemotherapy.

 

 

Meanwhile, the household of the sufferer has launched a press release figuring out him as Suleiman Achimugu, a former Managing Director of Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC).

The assertion which was signed by Abubakar Achimugu mentioned the sufferer was in self-isolation upon his return from the UK and personally referred to as NCDC after experiencing some discomfort that’s associated to COVID 19 signs.

“Our household is deeply saddened to tell you of the sudden loss of life of our beloved Father, Uncle, Brother, and buddy. Engr. Suleiman  Achimugu (former Md of PPMC).

“He died of COVID 19 on 22/03/2020 some days after he arrived in Nigeria from the UK.  He was in self-isolation upon his return from the UK and personally referred to as NCDC after experiencing some discomfort which might be associated to COVID 19 signs.

“He examined constructive and was promptly evacuated to the specialist hospital. He died whereas receiving therapy.

“We implore the general public to pray upon his soul and the recovery of infected persons. Your thoughts and prayers would be appreciated,” the assertion learn partially.

The sufferer has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
