BREAKING: Edo Speaker Tests Positive For Coronavirus

 

Mr Frank Okiye, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, has examined optimistic for the novel coronavirus.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Phillip Shaibu, disclosed this throughout a press convention in Benin, the state capital on Wednesday.

Mr Shaibu confirmed that Okiye is the recorded index case introduced earlier by the state authorities.

Channels Television had earlier reported that the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has gone into self-isolation.

In an announcement, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, mentioned the governor has despatched his samples for testing.

This transfer the governor mentioned was essential following his shut contact with the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who’ve each examined optimistic for COVID-19.

There are at present 46 instances recorded in Nigeria.

Two new instances of the COVID-19 had been confirmed within the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), one extra case was present in Lagos State whereas one other was found in Osun State.

A press release by the NCDC reveals that each instances are travellers who returned to Nigeria within the final 7 days.
