EXCLUSIVE: Veteran Actor, Baba Suwe For Burial On Wednesday In Lagos

Veteran actor and comic, Babatunde Omidina, popularly often known as Baba Suwe, shall be buried on Wednesday in Lagos State.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, his son, Adesola Omidina, said that his father can be buried at their residence within the Ikorodu space of the state. 

“He is set for burial tomorrow (Wednesday),” the son stated.

SaharaReporters learnt {that a} condolence register was already opened for sympathisers, followers and well-wishers of the veteran Nollywood actor.

SaharaReporters had on Monday reported that Adesola disclosed on his Instagram web page that Baba Suwe was useless.

“This is to announce the sudden death of my father Mr Babatunde Omiidina. The legend and rare gem ‘Babasuwe’ 11/22/21; other details will follow shortly. May your soul rest in perfect peace Dad,” he posted.

The actor was on October 12, 2011, detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on suspicion of drug trafficking after a physique scanner on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos recognized suspected medicine in his abdomen.

With the help of his lawyer, the late Bamidele Aturu, a human rights activist, the allegation was described as false and defamatory by the ruling of a Lagos High Court. His followers and supporters cheered him as he left the courtroom constructing after the listening to.

Since these incidents, the actor has not been energetic for years as a result of his failing well being, which many attribute to his incarceration by the NDLEA.

In April 2019, he was flown to the United States of America, the place he went for therapy after having diabetes.

Rev Esther Ajayi supported the overseas medical therapy with a sum of N10million.

Actor Yomi Fabiyi had on February 24, 2019, introduced that the sum of N10million donation was obtained from Rev. (Mrs.) Esther Ajayi by means of actor and producer, Gbenga Adewusi, aka Bayowa for the therapy of Baba Suwe within the US.

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo had on February 21, 2019, donated the sum of 1 million naira to assist the actor’s medical therapy. The donation was made by means of the Office of the Youth Organising Secretary, APC Lagos, Aregbe Idris.
